A420 APL6 Fittings

A420 WPL6 fittings are used in environments where the temperature range is low. A420 is basically a standard specification for pipe fittings that are of alloy steel or carbon steel. SA420 WPL6 fittings are essentially pipe fittings which are created to be used in low temperatures. As such, these types of fittings can be used even in temperatures as low as -50 °F. These are low temperature carbon steel fittings that have been created specifically for use in low-temperature environs, primarily for use with welded pressure vessels. A429 has been Charpy Impact tested at -50 °F.

Forming or forging of ASTM A420 WPL6 fittings is  done by extruding, pressing, fusion-welding, piercing, hammering, machining, working, bending or by combining a couple or more of the aforementioned processes. If these fittings happen to be cold forming, such as the likes of tees, to proceed further, what is required is a magnetic particle exam or a penetrant test. Heat treatment of SA 420 WPL6 pipe fittings can be done in the quenched and tempered condition, normalized and tempered condition, annealed condition or in the normalized condition. These fittings can be used in deep sea water projects, winter projects and cold weather projects. WPL6 is that grade of carbon steel that is normalized and has a Charpy Impact that has been tested at -50 °F.
